Is it over one ounce?
Heavier invitations move into the next letter-price tier.
Most wedding invitations use regular letter postage. The price can change when the finished envelope is heavier than one ounce, square, stiff, lumpy, or decorated on the outside.
Check my finished invitationAssemble and seal one invitation exactly as a guest will receive it. Weigh that complete envelope, including every card, liner, ribbon, and seal.
| Finished weight | Postage |
|---|---|
| Up to 1 ounce | $0.82 |
| Up to 2 ounces | $1.11 |
| Up to 3 ounces | $1.40 |
| Up to 3.5 ounces | $1.69 |
A square envelope adds this amount once. Some other unusual envelopes may also need it, but stiff, lumpy, or externally decorated pieces should be checked in person before you buy stamps.

Square envelopes need the extra postage shown above.
Take one sealed sample to the Post Office before stamping the full batch.
Protect exposed wax, string, or ribbon inside a plain outer envelope.
These examples assume a paper envelope that bends easily and has no decoration on the outside.

Ask in personTake one sealed sample to the Post Office before stamping the full batch.
Ask in person if the finished invitation is stiff, noticeably uneven, or difficult to bend. Bring one sealed sample before buying postage for the rest.
If it has exposed wax, string, or ribbon, place it inside a plain outer envelope. Hand-canceling may be available, but it does not promise that the invitation will avoid machines later in its trip.
